Why this work matters so deeply to me

The loss of my dad changed the course of my life. What began as my own search for steadiness eventually became The Embodied Grief Journey™ - a place where women can find the support I once needed for myself.

"After my dad died, I didn't recognize myself anymore."

The moment I realized I couldn't think my way through grief.

I remember lying awake at night months after my dad died, my mind racing through unfinished work and all the places I felt I was falling short. On the outside, I had returned to meetings, deadlines, and responsibilities. But at 2 a.m., my body felt wired and restless — like it couldn’t power down. I kept thinking, “Why isn’t this getting better?” and quietly wondering if something was wrong with me — if I was somehow failing at grief… if I wasn’t as strong or resilient as I had always believed.

Learning to work with my nervous system changed everything.

Eventually, I began to feel the toll in my body — the sleepless nights catching up with me, the anxiety humming under the surface, the steady drip of stress I couldn’t ignore anymore. I realized this wasn’t something I could think my way through. My nervous system was still carrying the grief. I was faced with a choice: keep pushing through and hope time would fix it… or invest in support that addressed my body, not just my mind. Part of me thought, “I should be able to handle this.” It felt uncomfortable — almost indulgent — to spend that kind of money on myself. And it was humbling to admit I couldn’t just power through. I had to name what I was carrying… and learn how to integrate it. So I enrolled in mindful grieving programs rooted in somatic and embodied practices.

Now I help women find the steadiness I once needed myself.

Slowly, I began to notice something shifting. I could sit in stillness without panic rising in my chest. I started sleeping through the night again. My body felt calm. Regulated. Steady in a way I hadn’t felt in months. And from that steadiness, something deeper emerged. I realized I wanted to become the person I had needed during that season — someone who understood grief not just intellectually, but in the body. So I deepened my training in grief education and somatic practices, choosing to support other women navigating loss with the kind of steadiness and compassion I had once longed for. I wasn’t abandoning what I had lost… but I was no longer bracing against it. Which is why I’m so passionate about supporting midlife women moving through grief to rebuild deep self-trust and emotional steadiness — without having to power through or lose themselves in the process.
